the college process.
Educational changes are often the first major decisions of a person's life. Adele's role is to guide students and their families through preparing themselves as candidates, identifying well-matched options, navigating application processes, and transitioning into their next placement. The student is the center of the process and we form the team supporting them.
Students live and thrive in communities. I work together with all stakeholders to move towards choices that are sustainable, natural fits for students, parents, and schools. This includes academic strengths, personal interests, and financial feasibility.
Cultivate embraces this holistic approach, teaching students to be self-advocates, taking care to support emotional and social needs as well as academic pursuits. Students define success for themselves and I work together to help them reach their unique goals.
Adele Horwitz ( M.Ed., NCC) is a veteran school counselor who brings 16 years of experience to your team. Her students come from the full range of high schools and earn admissions to an equally broad range of colleges, including large state universities, small liberal arts schools, highly selective private universities, and international universities.
Cultivate does not provide financial guidance, personal/academic testing, or PSAT/SAT/ACT test prep and can refer out as necessary.

After high school in Houston, college at Trinity University (BA Psychology, '06), graduate school at The University of Virginia (M.Ed. School Counseling, '08), and over 10 years working in the college counseling field in Boston, Adele knows a lot about colleges.
Combined with school counseling and college counseling in high school and independent settings, Adele has worked with students around the globe and helped them transition to a multitude of colleges and universities, including in the USA, Canada, the UK, and the EU.
Adele now works with a limited number of students and their families to ensure personalized attention.
Together with students, families, schools, and other resources, we will craft a specific path for each student, tailored to their needs and goals. Adele works with students as they develop a college-ready resume, consider unique interests and needs, learn about post-high school options, develop interview skills, connect with colleges, write essays, complete and submit applications, review offers, and transition to college.
Through family and individual student to counselor virtual meetings and communication, you are supported every step of the way. Meetings are scheduled around each student's preferences and availability.
Gardeners know plants grow when their specific needs are met and thrive with appropriate support. Cultivate is here to help match students with environment and support so they can thrive.
There is no "one size fits all" path to college. Focused on helping students find new ways to grow their skills and interests, Adele brings a personalized approach to the college application process. Parents can focus on parenting and enjoy this time with their students; students come away with increased confidence and skills needed to succeed in their goals.
Cultivate is LGBTQ+ friendly, neurodiverse welcoming, and experienced in helping students meet specific needs to support their ongoing growth on college campuses.
Cultivate is a woman-owned small business designed to provide an affirming, supportive environment to families during our time together.
